From: mail <default@siu.edu> To whom it may concern,
My name is Dan Baque and I currently reside in southern Illinois. I am staying
on my grandparents property while I attend Southern Illinois University. We
have two - 1 1/2 acre farm ponds with bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish.
About four years ago we decided to stock muskies in the pond not just to fish
for, but also because the largemouth bass population was becoming stunted due
to a large bass population. My uncle Robert purchased 10 fingerling muskies I
believe between 12 and 14 inches. We put five in one lake and five in the
other. We have noticed a considerable improvement on the size of not only the
bass, but in the bluegill and crappie sizes as well. That's not all! Yesterday
I received the honor of catching one of the muskies. It was the first time we
have been able to see one since they were stocked four years ago. It measured
out to be 35" and extremely strong and healthy. The fish was quickly
photographed and released. Anyway, I just thought I would take some time and
express my thanks and gratitude for supplying this ecologically important and
enjoyable resource. |
